Collection: Agate

Agate is a beautiful and incredibly varied form of Chalcedony, part of the Quartz family. It is especially loved for its natural banding, intricate patterns and incredible range of colours.

Agate forms when silica-rich fluids gradually fill cavities and spaces within rock, depositing microscopic layers of Chalcedony over long periods of time. These layers can create beautiful concentric bands, waves, swirls, lace-like patterns and other fascinating formations, making every piece completely unique.

Its colours range from soft whites, greys and earthy browns through to reds, oranges, blues, greens and countless natural combinations. Some Agates also contain open cavities lined with sparkling Quartz or Druzy crystals, adding another beautiful feature to the stone.

Hard and durable as well as beautiful, Agate can be polished into spheres, towers, hearts, freeforms and intricate carvings while still showcasing its natural patterns and formations.

Metaphysically, Agate is traditionally associated with grounding, stability, balance and emotional strength. It is believed to encourage calm, confidence and a sense of security, with different varieties and colours carrying their own additional traditional associations.
