Blue Aragonite and Caribbean Blue Calcite are often confused because of their beautiful blue colouring, but they are quite different materials.
Blue Aragonite is a naturally blue variety of Aragonite, a calcium carbonate mineral. It can range from delicate pale blue through to stronger turquoise-blue tones and often forms with fibrous, radiating or column-like structures and a beautiful silky appearance.
Caribbean Blue Calcite is a combination of soft blue Calcite with white and brown Aragonite. First introduced to the mineral market following its discovery in Pakistan in 2019, its gorgeous layers of ocean blue, sandy cream, white and earthy brown inspired the trade name “Caribbean Blue Calcite.”
Each piece can display wonderful natural banding, patterns and colour variations, particularly when polished into spheres, towers, freeforms and carvings.
Metaphysically, both stones are believed to carry peaceful, calming energy. Blue Aragonite is associated with communication, patience and emotional balance, while Caribbean Blue Calcite is often associated with relaxation, clarity, intuition and a sense of tranquillity.
