Fluorite

Fluorite is a beautiful calcium fluoride mineral known for having one of the most incredible colour ranges in the mineral world. Pure Fluorite is colourless, but natural variations during formation can produce gorgeous shades of purple, green, blue, yellow, pink and clear, as well as spectacular pieces containing several colours together.

One of the things I love most about Fluorite is just how different every piece can be. Some display soft pastel bands and zones of colour, while others have incredibly vibrant purples, greens and blues. Fluorite commonly forms in distinctive cubic and octahedral crystals and can produce some truly spectacular natural specimens.

Fluorite is also famous for fluorescence. In fact, the phenomenon takes its name from Fluorite, as many specimens can glow beautifully under ultraviolet light, although not every piece of Fluorite will fluoresce.

Metaphysically, Fluorite is believed to be a wonderful stone for mental clarity, concentration and focus. It is associated with clearing mental clutter, balancing energy and encouraging intuition, making it especially popular for study, work and meditation.

From natural cubes and crystal clusters to colourful spheres, towers, freeforms and carvings, Fluorite's incredible colours and formations make it one of the most fascinating minerals to collect.
