Howlite

Howlite is a distinctive calcium borosilicate mineral best known for its soft white colouring and beautiful grey to black veining, which often creates web-like patterns across the stone.

It naturally forms in rounded nodules and irregular masses, with every piece displaying its own unique pattern of veining. Its clean colouring and striking contrast make Howlite especially beautiful when polished or carved.

Howlite is also naturally porous, which means it readily absorbs dyes and is sometimes coloured to imitate stones such as Turquoise. Natural Howlite, however, is loved for its classic white and grey appearance and is commonly used for carvings, beads, jewellery and polished crystal pieces.
