Collection: Kyanite
Kyanite is a beautiful aluminium silicate mineral best known for its striking blade-like crystal formations and gorgeous shades of blue. While rich blue is the colour most commonly associated with Kyanite, it can also occur in green, black, grey, white and occasionally orange varieties.
Kyanite typically forms in metamorphic rocks under high-pressure conditions and often develops as long, flat or bladed crystals. One of its most unusual geological characteristics is that it has different hardness depending on the direction in which the crystal is tested — a property known as anisotropy.
Blue Kyanite can range from soft silvery and denim blues through to vibrant royal blue and deep indigo, sometimes displaying beautiful natural streaks, layers and flashes of colour.
Metaphysically, Kyanite is believed to be associated with communication, intuition, clarity and energetic balance. Blue Kyanite is commonly connected with the Throat and Third Eye Chakras and is believed to encourage honest self-expression, clear thinking and spiritual awareness. Black Kyanite is traditionally associated more strongly with grounding and protection.
From beautiful natural blades and clusters to polished pieces and carvings, Kyanite is a fascinating mineral with plenty of natural character.
