Terahertz Stone is a modern, man-made material rather than a naturally occurring crystal or gemstone. It is generally produced from high-purity silicon and has a distinctive metallic silver-grey appearance with a smooth, highly reflective finish when polished.

Originally developed in Japan, Terahertz material became popular in jewellery and the crystal market because of its unusual appearance and association with the terahertz frequency range of electromagnetic radiation. Despite its name, however, the polished material itself should not be confused with a naturally occurring mineral called “Terahertz.”

It is often carved into spheres, hearts, palm stones, beads and other shapes and is surprisingly lightweight compared with many natural stones of a similar size.

Metaphysically, Terahertz Stone is commonly associated with energy, vitality, balance and mental clarity. Various wellness claims are also made about Terahertz products, but these have not been established by reliable scientific evidence, so I prefer to describe these as traditional or metaphysical beliefs rather than proven health benefits.

Its sleek metallic appearance makes Terahertz a really interesting addition to a collection, particularly for anyone who loves something a little different.
