Hand-Knotted 108-Bead Japa Mālā with Rhodochrosite, Garnet, Smoky Quartz & Sunstone – Nepalese Silver Guru Bead

This is such a beautiful Mālā, filled with warm earthy tones, soft pinks and deep rich reds, all brought together with a gorgeous handmade Nepalese Silver Guru Bead and silky tassel. 

Lovingly handmade and individually hand-knotted by me using 108 semi-precious 8mm gemstone beads of genuine Rhodochrosite, Sunstone, faceted Garnet and Smoky Quartz.

I've added hypoallergenic TierraCast pewter spacers throughout, with the beautiful handmade Nepalese Silver Guru Bead creating the perfect focal point before finishing the Mālā with a soft silky tassel.

This is a full 108-bead Japa Mālā, perfect for meditation and mantra practice, or simply to wear as a beautiful and meaningful piece of jewellery.

Rhodochrosite – Stone of the Compassionate Heart 

Rhodochrosite is such a beautiful and increasingly sought-after gemstone, loved for its gorgeous shades of pink and distinctive natural white banding.

Metaphysically, it is traditionally known as the Stone of the Compassionate Heart and is associated with love, compassion, emotional healing and self-acceptance.

Closely connected with the Heart Chakra, Rhodochrosite is believed to encourage self-love while gently helping us acknowledge and release old emotional wounds. Its beautiful nurturing energy is traditionally associated with forgiveness, emotional balance and learning to treat yourself with the same compassion you give to others.

A little note about Rhodochrosite: Rhodochrosite and Rhodonite are completely different minerals, although they are sometimes confused or incorrectly labelled in the bead market. Rhodochrosite is generally rarer and can be considerably more valuable, so it's always worth knowing exactly what you're purchasing.

Garnet 

Garnet is traditionally associated with passion, strength, courage and vitality.

Its beautiful deep red colouring brings a wonderful richness to this Mālā, while its metaphysical energy is associated with grounding, confidence and perseverance.

Garnet has also long been connected with love and devotion, making it such a beautiful companion to the heart-centred energy of Rhodochrosite.

Smoky Quartz 

Smoky Quartz is traditionally considered a wonderful crystal for grounding, protection and emotional balance.

It is believed to help clear unwanted or stagnant energy while encouraging calm, stability and clarity during challenging or uncertain times.

Its warm, earthy energy beautifully grounds the softer emotional energy of Rhodochrosite and the brighter energy of Sunstone.

Sunstone 

Sunstone is such a joyful crystal and is traditionally associated with optimism, confidence, abundance and personal power.

Often considered a stone of good fortune and inner radiance, it is believed to encourage a positive outlook, enthusiasm and the confidence to let your authentic self shine.

Sunstone is also associated with vitality and motivation, helping to lift your energy when you need a little more light, joy or inspiration.

About Your Mālā

This is a traditional 108-bead Japa Mālā, individually handmade and hand-knotted by me.

Every Mālā I create is one of a kind. Some designs may be similar, but because I work with natural gemstones, every bead has its own colour, markings and character, meaning no two finished Mālās will ever be exactly the same.

Each Mālā comes in its own hand-stamped cotton bag, making it lovely to store safely or give as a special gift.

I have always believed the best way to choose your Mālā is intuitively — see which stones, colours or design your heart is naturally drawn towards. ✨

Your Mālā can be used for meditation, reflection, mantra practice, as a connection to the gemstones you've chosen, or simply worn as a beautiful and meaningful piece of jewellery.

Using Your Mālā for Japa Meditation

A traditional full Mālā contains 108 beads plus a Guru bead. The beads are used to keep count as a mantra is repeated during Japa meditation.

To begin, hold your Mālā and start with the first bead beside the Guru. Repeat your chosen mantra, then use your thumb to move to the next bead. Continue around the Mālā until you return to the Guru.

The Guru bead itself is traditionally not counted or crossed over. If you would like to continue for another round, simply turn your Mālā around and travel back in the opposite direction.

Mālās can also be made in divisions of 108, including 54, 27 and 18 beads.

The number 108 holds deep spiritual significance across Hindu, Buddhist and yogic traditions, which is why it has been used in prayer and meditation practices for centuries.

Caring for Your Mālā

Your Mālā becomes something very personal over time — connected with your intentions, thoughts, hopes, memories and dreams.

If you feel your Mālā needs refreshing, you can gently cleanse it with incense smoke or place it somewhere safe in the moonlight. Because different gemstones react differently to water, sunlight and cleansing methods, I prefer gentle dry methods for my handmade Mālās.

Ultimately, your Mālā becomes whatever you want it to be. Wear it, meditate with it, travel with it or simply keep it somewhere special. ✨
