Being a Half Mālā with 54 beads, it sits shorter on the chest than a traditional 108-bead Mālā while still slipping comfortably over your head. It’s a lovely option if you prefer a shorter Mālā for everyday wear while still being able to use it for meditation and mantra practice.
Ocean Jasper
Ocean Jasper is such a beautiful and fascinating stone, found in Madagascar and loved for its incredible colours, patterns and distinctive orbicular markings. No two beads are ever quite the same, which makes it perfect for creating truly individual Mālās.
Metaphysically, Ocean Jasper is traditionally associated with emotional healing, renewal, strength and going with the natural flow of life.
Its connection with the element of Water gives it a wonderfully soothing energy, believed to encourage patience, positivity and emotional balance. Its beautiful circular patterns are also associated with the interconnectedness of life and the cycles of change and renewal.
Pink Ocean Jasper has an especially gentle feel and is often associated with the heart, self-love, compassion and emotional nurturing.
Black Onyx adds a lovely grounding element and is traditionally associated with strength, protection and stability.
About Your Mālā
Every Mālā I create is individually handmade by me, and no two will ever be exactly the same. Even when I use similar combinations, the natural variations within each gemstone bead ensure that your Mālā is completely unique.
I always believe one of the loveliest ways to choose your Mālā is simply through intuition — see which colours, stones and individual piece your heart is naturally drawn towards. ✨
Traditionally, a full Mālā contains 108 beads plus a Guru bead and is used during Japa or mantra meditation to help keep count of mantra repetitions. Mālās can also be made with divisions of 108, including 54, 27 and 18 beads.
To meditate with your Mālā, begin at the bead beside the Guru bead. Hold each bead gently between your fingers as you repeat your chosen mantra, moving to the next bead with each repetition. The Guru bead traditionally marks the beginning and end of your meditation rather than being counted as one of the mantra beads.
But ultimately, your Mālā can become whatever you would like it to be — a meditation tool, a connection to the gemstones you have chosen, a reminder of an intention, or simply a beautiful and meaningful piece of jewellery.
Over time, your Mālā becomes part of your own journey, carrying the intentions, hopes and meaning that you give to it.
Your Mālā can be gently cleansed from time to time using smoke from incense or other preferred cleansing methods, or simply placed somewhere peaceful under the moonlight.
