This piece is predominantly purple, with a gorgeous iridescent sheen appearing across different areas of the heart. It doesn't have a full, encompassing face flash, but that certainly doesn't take away from its beauty — its colours are a little more subtle and reveal themselves at different angles as you turn it in the light.

Rainbow Obsidian can be incredibly difficult to photograph, and the photos really don't capture just how beautiful the colours and sheen are in person. Photographs have been taken outdoors in natural sunlight to show the flash as accurately as possible.

Rainbow Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools rapidly. Its amazing iridescent effect is created by microscopic layers and inclusions within the Obsidian that interact with light, producing beautiful bands and flashes of colour.

Depending on the individual piece, angle and lighting, Rainbow Obsidian can reveal purples, magentas, greens, golds and other subtle colours that can remain hidden within the dark stone until the light catches them just right.
