What is a Selenite Window?

Selenite is a transparent to translucent crystalline variety of Gypsum, named after Selene, the ancient Greek goddess of the Moon, because of its beautiful moon-like glow. 

Exceptionally clear pieces like this are often referred to as Selenite Windows because of the way light passes through the crystal, creating an almost window-like appearance.

Selenite naturally forms in delicate layers and has a beautiful pearly to glass-like lustre. Each piece has its own natural formations, internal patterns and character, making these larger specimens particularly beautiful display pieces.
