Beautiful Hand-Carved Verdite Bowl with Turtle
A gorgeous hand-carved Verdite bowl from Zimbabwe, featuring the cutest little turtle carved as part of the bowl itself.
This beautiful piece has wonderful natural green colouring, with darker markings, patterns and variations running throughout the stone. I especially love the detail in the carving and the little turtle sitting on the side — it gives this piece so much character.
Hand-carved in Zimbabwe, these beautiful pieces also help support local artisans and the continuation of traditional stone-carving skills.
This piece also features natural Ruby within the stone, adding another special little detail to an already unique carving.

Verdite is a beautiful green metamorphic rock found predominantly in Southern Africa, particularly Zimbabwe and South Africa. Its colouring can range from soft through to deep greens, often with wonderful natural swirls, mottling and contrasting areas of brown, yellow or reddish tones.
Its relatively soft nature makes Verdite particularly suited to detailed carving, and Zimbabwe has a wonderful tradition of creating sculptures and decorative pieces from locally sourced stone. Each carving is individually made, so no two will ever be exactly alike.
Metaphysically, Verdite is traditionally associated with emotional strength, confidence and connection to the Earth. It is believed to encourage personal growth, honesty and resilience while bringing a grounding and stabilising energy.
Ruby is traditionally associated with vitality, passion and courage, adding a lovely energetic contrast to Verdite's grounding qualities.
A really special piece combining beautiful natural stone, traditional craftsmanship and the sweetest little carved turtle.
