Calcite is an incredibly diverse carbonate mineral found in an amazing range of colours, from clear and snowy white through to pink, honey, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, red and brown.

Pure Calcite is colourless or white, while its many beautiful colours are created by trace elements and mineral inclusions present as the crystal forms. This can produce everything from soft pastel tones to intensely coloured specimens, with each variety displaying its own unique character.

Calcite can form in an incredible variety of crystal shapes and formations. Clear varieties such as Iceland Spar are particularly fascinating because of their strong double-refraction effect, where an object viewed through the crystal can appear doubled.

Metaphysically, Calcite is believed to be a cleansing and uplifting stone associated with positive energy, clarity and personal growth. Different colours of Calcite are also traditionally associated with different Chakras and intentions.
