Garnet

Garnet isn't just one mineral, but a beautiful family of closely related silicate minerals that share a similar crystal structure while varying in their chemical composition. This is what gives Garnet its wonderful range of colours and varieties.

Although Garnet is most commonly recognised for its rich deep reds, it can also occur in shades of orange, yellow, green, brown and even almost black. Varieties include deep red Pyrope, red to brownish-red Almandine, vibrant orange Spessartine, Grossular in colours including beautiful greens, vivid green Uvarovite and Andradite, which can range from green through to darker tones.

Garnets can form as beautifully defined natural crystals and are also polished into jewellery, carvings and collector pieces.

Metaphysically, Garnet is believed to be a stone of strength, passion and vitality. It is associated with grounding, confidence, motivation and courage and is traditionally connected with the Root Chakra.
